The Assam government has submitted written requests to the prime minister and the Union home minister for setting up of a hub of National Security Guard in Guwahati dedicated to the entire north eastern region affected by insurgency. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has submitted separate requests to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram in view of the state's and the region's vulnerability against terror, an official source said.

Threat from militants belonging to the banned Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel Garlosa) or the Black Widow group has forced the Railways authority to stop train services in the Lumding- Badarpur Hill Section in the night.A spokesman of the Northeast Frontier Railway informed that the Railway decided to do away with train services in the night fearing attacks by Black Widow militants active in the area.This is not the first time that train services have been disrupted.
